Vacation Safety Tips

Summer will soon be upon us. Now is the time everyone will be planning for there vacation. But there are certain things people forget to plan before, during and after their vacation. The following article hopefully will help you to feel more at ease while you are away.

Before you leave for vacation you should do the following:

1. Contact your Post Office and have them hold your mail until you return.

2. Contact your local paper delivery service and have them not deliver to your house until your return.

3. Have a family member or friend stop at your house just to check things out.

4. Put a timer on a light in your house so it gives the appearance that some one is home.

These are a few things you can do to keep your home safe while you are away. This way you can concentrate more on having fun than worrying about your home.

Always remember when you are on vacation with the family, make sure that everyone is accounted for. Unfortunately in today’s world there are people out there watching you to make a mistake, so they can take advantage of you.

If you are going to an amusement park either for the day or for a week. Always accompany your children to the rides. Make sure they get on and be there when the ride is over. Do Not Leave them unattended even when they go to the restroom. Amusement Parks are meant to be fun. If children wander off they could get hurt by a ride just by being to close to it or running underneath one. Also, there are people out there who abduct children. So please remember to keep the children close to you. This way you can avoid some things from happening.

When you are away try not to flash your money around. Do not keep it in one place. Try to keep some in your pants pocket. This way if your wallet is stolen or lost you will still have money on you.

I have been in the Security Field for the past 12 years. For the past 8 years I have been a Branch Manager for 2 different Security Guard firms. Over the years I have done investigations, surveillance and undercover work. Unfortunately in my business I have to look at the bad side of people in regards to what can happen at different locations. Such as how can some one break into the facility.

What can I do to better protect my client and there employees? I have adopted this philosophy into my own life. I have a great wife and two small boys, and I do not want anything to happen to them. Especially when we go out. I can recall my wife asking me on several occasions when were out what are you looking at. I always say nothing, but I am actually looking around at the different people just to see if anyone is watching us.

I am not suggesting to anyone to adopt this type of style in his or her own lives. I just want people to be more aware of their surroundings and the people around them. The main thing to remember is to have fun but always have safety in the back of your mind.
